I'm a Brooklyn mum making unconventional, healthy, handmade sugar-free candy.
My love for sweet things led me to create Cracked Candy in 2013. It seemed unfair that the most delicious things in this world are often the worst things for you; so I started researching how my sugary cravings could be satisfied, without the sugar. Years as a science teacher helped when I started investigating how to make the perfect sugar-free candy. After many months in the kitchen I cracked it. And so with help from my art director husband I've created a natural, sugar free candy that is good for you. Believe it or not, dentists even recommend it.
Xylitol. What’s that then?
Good question. It’s a natural sweetener made from birch tree bark; it's also found in fruits, vegetables, and believe or not, our own bodies. In fact your body probably makes five to ten grams of it a day. Clever clinical studies have shown that eating it daily may reduce cavities, plaque and promote remineralisation of tooth enamel. It has no net effect on carbs and 40% fewer calories than sugar. So there you have it - Xylitol: smart stuff; silly name!
It’s Good to Know...
We take simple, pure ingredients and turn them into Cracked Candy.There's no machinery used, just our bare hands. That means that each tin of Cracked Candy and each individual piece is different. We think that’s part of the fun of it but we don't get out much these days.
The therapeutic grade essential oils we use are 100% pure and wherever possible organic.
